Over the years, doctors have learned that the body has the ability to heal itself. Platelet-rich plasma has certain regenerative properties called growth factors that can harness the ability to strengthen and renew tissue.
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy uses injections of a concentration of a patient’s own platelets to accelerate the healing of injured tendons, ligaments, muscles, joints, and even to cultivate hair growth. PRP injections use individual patient’s own healing system to improve certain ailments, and in this case, help to restore the hair.
PRP injections for the hair are prepared by taking one to a few tubes of your own blood and running it through a centrifuge to concentrate the platelets. These activated platelets are then injected directly into your scalp, where hair growth is needed. This releases growth factors which stimulate and increase the number of reparative cells your body produces, thickening and maintaining hair growth.
