Over the years, doctors have learned that the body has the ability to heal itself. Platelet-rich plasma has certain regenerative properties called growth factors that can harness the ability to strengthen and renew tissue.
PRP is a great solution to stimulate cell growth. Your blood is drawn, processed, and used for treatments. The benefits of PRP can stimulate hair growth, diminish the appearance of scarring, and encourage the body’s production of collagen.
For example, PRP is injected intentionally into the face to trigger collagen, tighten skin, decrease the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, and improve skin texture. PRP is also used to diminish the appearance of scarring from acne, injuries, stretch marks and surgical procedures.
A concentration of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is injected into a patient to accelerate the healing of injured tendons, ligaments, muscles, joints, and even to cultivate hair growth. PRP injections use individual patient’s own healing system to improve certain ailments, and in this case, help to restore the hair.
PRP could be your answer if you notice thinning hair loss at an alarming rate. After a recommended series of 3-4 treatments, separated into 4-6 weeks will give the hair the trigger to grow. The best results, however, happen over 4-9 months. PRP injection for hair restoration requires a blood draw, so stay hydrated 24 hours before your appointment.
PRP injections for the hair are prepared by taking a few tubes of your blood and spinning it through a centrifuge to concentrate the platelets. These focused platelets are then injected directly into your scalp, where hair growth is needed. This releases growth factors which increase and trigger the number of reparative cells your body produces, thickening and maintaining hair growth.
The results from PRP treatments are long-lasting, but results are different from person to person.
